Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell remains hospitalized after sustaining a neck injury during Sunday's victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The team released a statement Monday afternoon indicating that "preliminary indications are positive" but will withhold further details out of respect for Campbell and his family.

The injury occurred in the fourth quarter as Campbell attempted to tackle Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson. The 26-year-old player lay motionless on the field, prompting immediate concern from players on both teams and a lengthy delay.

He was stretchered off the field and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Initially, head coach Dan Campbell had no update on his player's condition, asking his team and the public to keep Campbell in their thoughts and prayers. The team later confirmed Campbell was being evaluated for a neck injury.

Quarterback Jared Goff expressed his concern for Campbell, who is a husband and father. "It just brings you back to reality for a moment," Goff said. "Scary. We're praying for him and hope he's going to be alright. If anyone is tough enough to get through something like that it's going to be him."

Campbell, in his fourth NFL season, was a first-round draft pick for the Lions in 2023. He has started 53 games and recorded 8.5 sacks. He earned an All-Pro selection last year after recording five sacks and 176 tackles in 17 starts. The Lions, now 5-2, are scheduled to play the Miami Dolphins in Week 9.
