Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn attended the US Open tennis tournament, marking a visible step in her recovery from an extensive ski crash. Vonn appeared at the event with minimal bandaging on her surgically repaired left leg, several months after undergoing eight surgeries to address injuries sustained during a crash at the Milan-Cortina Games.

Vonn was seen wearing a sleeveless olive-green dress that featured a side slit, revealing some medical tape on her left calf and knee. The two-time world champion was present to watch Novak Djokovic compete against Mariano Navone.

She has spoken about her rehabilitation process, describing it as slow and challenging. In July, Vonn stated that walking was still difficult for her, five months after she was able to resume gym workouts in a meaningful way. The severe leg injury occurred during the women's downhill race at the Olympics on February 8. Vonn had been competing with a torn left ACL, an injury sustained before the Milan-Cortina Games, and the subsequent crash resulted in a fractured left leg that reportedly put her at risk of amputation.

Despite the severity of her injuries, Vonn has not ruled out a potential return to skiing. She has shared updates on her recovery, including photos from a summer vacation where she engaged in activities like paddleboarding. Vonn also mentioned her friendship with Polish tennis player Iga Świątek, whom she hopes to see during the US Open.

Vonn has been a regular attendee at the US Open in past years, often accompanied by former partners. Recently, she has been romantically linked to French alpine ski racer Matthieu Bailet, with reports detailing their time together in New York City in May, including sightings at a Broadway show, shopping, and riding the subway.
