Dan Lawrence impressed in difficult batting conditions to advance England's push for a series win over Pakistan on a weather-hit third day of the second Test at Lord's.

Only 24.5 overs were possible on Saturday due to persistent rain, with play beginning late in the afternoon and regularly interrupted. England finished the day on 177-7 in their second innings, extending their lead to 357 runs.

Lawrence, who is aiming to secure his place in the England team, remained unbeaten on 50, marking his second half-century in as many Tests. He and Harry Brook forged a partnership of 45 for the fifth wicket, a significant effort given the challenging batting surface.

The Pakistan pace attack, led by Muhammad Abbas who took three wickets for 48 runs, found assistance from the pitch. Abbas dismissed opener Emilio Gay for 31, with Gay again missing an opportunity to solidify his position at the top of the order. Brook was later caught by wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan for 34.

Lawrence eventually adopted an aggressive approach, accelerating his scoring to reach his milestone. The lead of 357 is considered substantial given the bowling conditions and Pakistan's previous batting performance.

Pakistan was bowled out for 110 in their first innings, with Ollie Robinson taking four wickets and Jofra Archer claiming three. England had resumed their second innings on 81-3.

The forecast for Sunday is more favorable, offering the potential for England to complete the match and secure their first series victory since 2024.
