LSU head coach Lane Kiffin revealed he has temporarily removed himself from social media platforms, a decision prompted by a bet with his son, Knox. Kiffin shared the development during SEC Media Days, explaining that his son challenged his constant social media presence.
"If you follow me, if you tell me I can’t do something, that’s really a good way to get me to do it," Kiffin told reporters. He initially aimed to prove he could abstain, but the break has become unexpectedly beneficial.
"Now it’s been a couple months and it’s been really refreshing," Kiffin said. "It’s really taken over what we used to say we were worried about our kids doing. The adults are just as bad."
Kiffin, who has previously generated headlines for his social media activity, has not only deleted the apps but also stopped reading them. He described the experience as eye-opening, leading him to encourage others, including family, friends, and players, to consider taking similar breaks.
The coach's social media hiatus coincided with scrutiny following comments he made to Vanity Fair regarding recruiting challenges at his former program, Ole Miss. In that profile, Kiffin alleged that a lack of racial diversity at the university made it difficult to recruit players.
