Nick Kyrgios marked his return to Wimbledon with a verbal altercation with an umpire and an early exit from the men's doubles competition. The Australian, competing at the All England Club for the first time since reaching the 2022 singles final, partnered with Alexander Bublik.

Their first-round match saw them lose to the sixth seeds, Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic, with a score of 6-3, 6-4. The incident occurred after Kyrgios had his serve broken early in the second set. When addressed by French umpire Manuel Absolu, Kyrgios responded with an expletive, stating he did not care about any potential fines. "Honestly, at this point you can fine me, I honestly don't even care," he said. "You can fine me. All these rules are so dumb anyway."

Kyrgios, currently ranked 899 in the world, was not granted a wildcard for the singles tournament. His past Wimbledon appearances have seen multiple fines, including a total of £14,500 in 2022 for offenses that included swearing and spitting in the direction of a spectator. The 31-year-old has faced significant injury challenges in recent years, including knee and wrist issues, but secured his first ATP Tour-level win in over a year at the Stuttgart Open in June.
