Kyle Lowry is expected to sign a one-day contract with the Toronto Raptors to officially retire as a member of the franchise, according to reports. The special ceremony is scheduled for July 7 in Toronto.

Lowry, who played for the Raptors from 2012 to 2021, has not yet publicly confirmed the news, expressing frustration on social media about the leak. "Wait for the word to come from me, not someone else!!! Smh," Lowry posted on Instagram.

The Raptors have promoted the July 7 event as a "monumental moment" for the franchise. Beyond the retirement ceremony, there is an expectation that Lowry's No. 7 jersey will be retired by the team during the 2026-27 NBA season. He would join Vince Carter as the only other player in Raptors franchise history to have his number honored in this way.

During his nine seasons with Toronto, Lowry averaged 17.5 points per game and shot 42.5 percent from the field. His tenure included helping the Raptors secure their first NBA championship in 2019. He was also part of the gold medal-winning U.S. Men's Olympic Basketball Team at the 2016 Summer Games.

Lowry is set to retire as the Raptors' career leader in assists, steals, three-pointers made, and playoff games won. His NBA career also included stints with the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, and Philadelphia 76ers.
