New York Knicks guard Tyler Kolek said it would be "amazing" if actor Timothée Chalamet were to portray him in a future film.
Kolek shared his thoughts on Wednesday from the ESPYs red carpet, where the Knicks received the Best Team award. The guard's comments come after Chalamet, a frequent attendee at Knicks games, went viral for his energetic reaction during Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Chalamet was seen jumping out of his seat and exclaiming "White boys!" during a crucial moment in the Knicks' championship win over the San Antonio Spurs.
Following the game, online discussions pointed out a perceived resemblance between Kolek and Chalamet, leading to social media commentary suggesting Chalamet would play Kolek in a documentary. One follower joked that Kolek would then play Chalamet.
The Knicks' championship victory marks the franchise's first NBA title in 53 years. Kolek, a reserve guard who joined the Knicks in 2024, attributed the team's success to their strong sense of camaraderie and mutual care, contrasting it with teams that focus on individual statistics.
"I feel like our team just came together as one and accomplished the goal that we set our minds to," Kolek stated.
Kolek also reflected on the experience of winning the championship, describing the city's celebratory atmosphere as "on fire." He mentioned taking time away to "get some grounding" before returning for events like the ESPYs, Fanatics Fest, and the World Cup Final.
Looking ahead, Kolek plans to keep his championship merchandise, including a jersey and a ball from the Finals, as keepsakes for his future children. He also noted that seeing videos of fans celebrating outside Madison Square Garden was one of the most memorable aspects of the team's playoff run. MIA
