Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested on preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI) and DWI endangering a person early Sunday morning, according to an IMPD police report and jail booking. The arrest occurred around 1 a.m. on the 100 block of S. Meridian Street, just hours after Allen participated in the Colts' preseason game against the Detroit Lions at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Allen, 34, is preparing for his 14th NFL season and his first with the Colts after leaving the Los Angeles Chargers. He is a six-time Pro Bowler and a former Comeback Player of the Year. The arrest comes less than two weeks before the start of the 2026 NFL season, with the Colts scheduled to host the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1.
Allen signed with the Colts earlier in August after being released by the Chargers at the end of the 2025 season. He spent 12 of his previous 13 seasons with the Chargers organization, having been drafted by San Diego in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He moved with the team to Los Angeles for the 2017 season, where he recorded 1,393 receiving yards, a figure that was third-highest in the NFL that year, and earned him the Comeback Player of the Year award. He was traded to the Chicago Bears in March 2024 but returned to the Chargers for the 2025 season, playing in all 18 games and a Wild Card playoff contest. In 2025, he signed a one-year deal worth $8.5 million.
