FIFA's 2026 World Cup team of the tournament has been announced, with England having only one representative: Jude Bellingham.

The selection, determined by fan votes, followed Spain's victory over Argentina in the final. Bellingham, a 23-year-old midfielder, was the sole player from the England squad to be included in the 'Dream XI'.

Bellingham scored seven goals, a record for an England player in a single World Cup, as the Three Lions finished third, their best performance since 1966, after defeating France 6-4 in the third-place play-off. He is joined in the midfield by Spain's Rodri, the World Cup-winning captain, and Michael Olise.

Olise recorded a tournament-high seven assists, while Bellingham received the Golden Ball for his performances. Kylian Mbappe of France, who won the Golden Boot, is named on the right wing, with Lionel Messi of Argentina on the left. Messi concluded the tournament with an estimated 20 World Cup goals, surpassing Miroslav Klose's previous record. Norway's Erling Haaland, who scored seven goals in his debut World Cup appearance, is also in the forward line.

The defense features Spanish full-backs Marc Cucurella and Pedro Porro, with Dayot Upamecano of France and Lisandro Martinez of Argentina forming the central defensive partnership. The goalkeeper is 40-year-old Vozinha of Cape Verde.

Vozinha gained cult hero status for his role in Cape Verde's unexpected run to the round of 32, where they were narrowly defeated by Argentina. He kept clean sheets against Spain and Saudi Arabia, made 18 saves, and outperformed his expected goals against metric by 0.9. Vozinha also saw a dramatic increase in his Instagram followers, rising from 50,000 to 29.5 million during the tournament.

The majority of the 'Dream XI' comprises players from the semi-finalist nations, with Spain contributing three players, France three, and Argentina two, in addition to Bellingham.
