Josh Allen, quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, has voiced his support for the team's decision to part ways with former head coach Sean McDermott. McDermott was dismissed in January after nine seasons with the team, following a playoff loss to the Denver Broncos. Joe Brady, who had previously served in various roles including offensive coordinator, has since replaced him.
"I think change is needed sometimes," Allen said in a recent interview, reflecting on the team's past playoff performances. "Especially when we've been close in the past... I think this is kind of a switch that was necessary and I'm very excited."
Allen, a prominent NFL player named MVP in 2024, is entering a new era with the Bills, which will include playing in the team's new stadium. The first regular-season game in the new venue is scheduled for September 17 against the Detroit Lions, marking the kickoff for Amazon Prime Video's "Thursday Night Football" schedule. The Bills will begin their season on the road against the Houston Texans.
The team will report for training camp on July 29 at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, signaling the start of the Brady era. Allen anticipates a bright future for the Bills, now under Brady's leadership.
This offseason has also been significant for Allen personally. In April, he and his wife, actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld, welcomed their daughter, Harper. Allen has spoken about the profound impact of fatherhood, calling it "the most important thing I'll ever be in my life."
