England defender John Stones has joined Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract with the club.

The 32-year-old became a free agent after his deal with Manchester City expired at the end of June. Stones spent 10 successful years at the Premier League club, winning six league titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, five League Cups, three Community Shields, the Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.

Stones stated that he had "lived all my dreams out" during his tenure at Manchester City. Since becoming a free agent, the centre-back had attracted interest from several European clubs, including Chelsea and Juventus.

Inter Milan secured their 21st Serie A title last season. The team is scheduled to begin their title defense against newly promoted Monza on Saturday, August 22.

During his time at Manchester City, Stones, who previously played for Barnsley, made 295 appearances and scored 19 goals. He transferred to City from Everton in 2016 for a fee of £47.5 million. Stones has also earned 93 caps for England and was part of the squad that finished third in the recent World Cup, notably starting in the quarter-final victory over Norway and the semi-final loss to Argentina.
