J.D. Martinez, currently serving as a special assistant for the New York Mets, has stated he is not interested in becoming the team's next full-time manager. Martinez conveyed this sentiment on Friday, emphasizing his satisfaction with his current role and his desire to maintain his personal freedom.
"I like my freedom," Martinez told The Post. "I have worked too many years to not keep it."
The interim manager position is currently being filled by Andy Green following the recent dismissal of Carlos Mendoza. Green has indicated his intention to return to a player development role after the current season concludes. Martinez's current position with the Mets allows him to stay connected to the game without the extensive demands of a managerial job.
