Romell Glave and Jeremiah Azu delivered a stunning one-two finish for Great Britain in the men's 100-meter race at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. Glave, 26, secured his first international individual gold medal with a winning time of 10.09 seconds.

Azu, who is also the reigning world and European indoor champion over 60 meters, improved on his 2022 bronze medal performance by finishing second in 10.16 seconds. The race saw the withdrawal of Italy's two-time defending champion, Lamont Marcell Jacobs, who pulled up with an injury around the halfway mark.

German athlete Owen Ansah completed the podium, taking bronze. Jacobs, the surprise Olympic champion from five years ago, was considered a favorite for the title before his injury forced him out of contention.
