San Francisco Giants infielder Eddys Leonard marked his Major League Baseball debut with his first career hit, a double in the second inning against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday. The moment came after nine years and more than 3,000 plate appearances in the minor leagues for the 25-year-old.

Cameras captured Leonard's family erupting in celebration in the stands following the hit, with Leonard also acknowledging them from the field. Leonard, who entered the game after Heliot Ramos was traded to the New York Yankees, described the experience as "a dream come true."

"A long time ago, I was waiting for that moment, and it happened today," Leonard told reporters after the game. "I give all the glory to God. I’m not going to lie, I was crying because I was waiting for this moment for a long time."

Leonard, who plans to give the game ball to his parents, credited their support for his journey. "This wouldn't be possible without them because of all the things that they did when I was a little kid," he said. The Giants, who hold a challenging record this season, are providing opportunities for other players like Leonard to contribute as the year progresses.
