NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo has publicly defended his marriage to Mariah, pushing back against online trolls who suggested he could be romantically involved with multiple models. Antetokounmpo, a two-time MVP and 10-time All-Star, emphasized that his wife's honesty and dedication to their family are paramount.
During an appearance on 'AnesTea The Podcast,' Antetokounmpo addressed the criticism, stating, "I am with my wife because she tells me the truth." He highlighted her role in keeping their children grounded and her fierce protectiveness.
"She loves me, she will tell me whenever I do anything wrong. She will tell my kids the truth. I know that she will kill for my kids and she would even kill me for them," Antetokounmpo said. "I know that she won't let my kids get a big head, and that's the most important thing for me. I am in love. I am in love with her. As a woman and as a mother."
Antetokounmpo first met Mariah at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas in 2014, early in his career. He recalled an immediate sense that she would become his wife. After initial attempts to connect, Mariah expressed interest in getting to know him, leading Antetokounmpo to fly to Miami. He noted her commitment, as she traveled to meet him, and the subsequent integration into his family life.
The couple, who have four children, married in Greece in 2024. Antetokounmpo recently joined the Miami Heat in a trade that sent him from the Milwaukee Bucks, along with Bobby Portis Jr., in exchange for Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, and draft capital.
Antetokounmpo entered the NBA in 2013. His career statistics include 21,531 points, 8,882 rebounds, and 4,484 assists, placing him among the top players in the league for points and rebounds during his tenure. He is Milwaukee's all-time franchise leader in points, rebounds, and assists.
