Arsenal has officially confirmed the sale of Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal for a transfer fee of £60 million. This move represents a club-record sale for Arsenal, surpassing the previous record of £35 million set by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's departure to Liverpool in 2017. The transfer agreement also includes a sell-on clause.
Martinelli made 30 appearances in the Premier League during the past season, contributing to Arsenal's league title win, which ended a 22-year drought for the club. However, his role was often as a substitute, with manager Mikel Arteta frequently favoring Eberechi Eze and Leandro Trossard on the left wing. Martinelli started only 11 of his league appearances last season.
