The FIFA World Cup 2026 continues with a quarterfinal matchup between France and Morocco on July 9, kicking off at 4 p.m. ET. One of these teams will advance to the semifinals, with France currently holding its position as a tournament favorite.
France, one of two remaining undefeated teams, secured its spot in the quarterfinals with a 1-0 victory over Paraguay in the Round of 16, a match decided by a Kylian Mbappé penalty in the later stages of the game. In earlier group stage play, France defeated Senegal 3-1, Iraq 3-0, and Norway 4-1 before their Round of 32 win against Sweden.
Morocco enters the quarterfinal after a decisive 3-0 shutout against host nation Canada in the Round of 16. Their World Cup journey includes a 1-1 draw against Brazil in group play, a 1-0 win over Scotland, a 4-2 victory against Haiti, and a penalty shootout win against the Netherlands following a 1-1 draw. However, Morocco will be without key scorer Ismael Saibari, who has been ruled out of the match due to injury. Saibari had started all five of the team's matches and scored in three of them.
The winner of the France-Morocco match will proceed to the semifinals in Dallas on July 14, where they will face the victor of a match between Belgium and Spain.
The quarterfinal match is scheduled to be broadcast on FOX in English and Telemundo in Spanish. For those without cable, the game can be streamed via live TV streaming services offering a free trial. DIRECTV's Choice plan, which includes FOX and Telemundo, is available with a five-day free trial, followed by a discount on the first month.
