Jordan Devey, a Super Bowl champion offensive lineman who played for multiple NFL teams, died by suicide, his family announced. He was 38.
Devey won Super Bowl XLIX with the New England Patriots during the 2014 season. The family confirmed his death in a GoFundMe campaign, stating the loss has left them navigating a difficult and heartbreaking time. The date of Devey's death was not specified.
He played in 44 NFL games, starting 21, with stints on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, and Buffalo Bills. Devey is noted as the only player in NFL history to have blocked for quarterbacks Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen.
Following his NFL career, Devey had been coaching at Eagle High School in Idaho. According to the GoFundMe, he was a dedicated husband to his wife, Linsey, and a father to their four children. The campaign described him as a cherished member of the Eagle community, known for his volunteer coaching and his commitment to serving others within his church.
Devey's widow posted a tribute on Instagram earlier this week, which would have been their 15th wedding anniversary, sharing memories and her grief. She included photos of herself by his hospital bedside and from their wedding day.
