Atlanta Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski expressed profound sadness and pledged organizational support following the death of Cristina Ulbrich, wife of defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. Cristina Ulbrich passed away at the age of 48 after a battle with cancer, a loss that has deeply affected the Falcons organization.

Speaking to reporters on Friday morning during the team's training camp, Stefanski described the situation as a difficult time for the Ulbrich family and the entire Falcons organization. "We, like any family, will support Jeff and the kids and will put our arms around him and the kids, literally and as an organization," Stefanski stated. He indicated that Jeff Ulbrich would share his thoughts when he felt ready, adding, "We'll make sure we're a family through all this."

Cristina Ulbrich was a steadfast supporter of her husband throughout his NFL career, from his time as a player to his transition into coaching. In 2010, she deferred personal plans, telling the Morgan Hill Times, "We're not taking any vacations or going anywhere until he has something down." She also expressed relief when Jeff moved into coaching, stating, "It's knowing we don't have to worry about his health anymore," referencing his history of concussions as a player.

Her support was particularly evident in 2024 when Jeff Ulbrich was named interim head coach of the New York Jets. Cristina was photographed kissing him on the sideline before his first game in charge. The couple later moved to Atlanta in 2025 when Jeff accepted the role of Falcons defensive coordinator, marking their fifth move since his playing career ended in 2009.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank released a statement acknowledging Cristina's devotion to her family. "It was always evident how deeply Cristina loved her family and how fiercely she supported them," Blank said.

Jeff and Cristina Ulbrich met in 1997 during a recruiting visit by Jeff to the University of Hawaii. They maintained a private life away from the football field and had three children: Samantha, Jax, and Jace. Former teammate Takeo Spikes recalled the deep bond between Jeff and his family, noting to The Athletic in 2023 that, "When he got around his family it was like nothing else mattered."
