Everton forward Martin Sherif has been charged by the Football Association (FA) for allegedly breaching betting rules. The 20-year-old player is accused of placing 61 bets on football matches between November 20, 2024, and February 12, 2026.
Sherif, who was loaned to Rotherham United last season, has until Monday, August 17, to respond to the charges. The FA stated in a release that the alleged breach falls under FA Rule E1.2.
Sherif has not yet made a senior professional appearance for Everton but has trained with the first team. He has been associated with the club since the age of 13 and was noted for his scoring record at youth levels. His loan spell at Rotherham in League One saw him score twice in 10 games before being cut short in December due to injuries. He later joined Port Vale on loan in February, scoring twice in 17 matches as the team was relegated to League Two.
