Duncan Scott collected his 15th Commonwealth Games medal on Tuesday, anchoring Scotland to a bronze in the mixed 4x100m relay swimming event. The medal marks another significant achievement for Scott, who is the most decorated Scottish athlete in the history of the Games.
Scott, 29, joined teammates Matt Ward, Angharad Evans, and Keanne Macinnes in the final. He moved into third place during his freestyle leg, securing the medal for the Scottish team. Australia won the race with a new Games record, while South Africa took silver.
"The three legs before me tonight were exceptional," Scott stated. "People have to understand how high quality a field that was, so it’s an amazing bronze for us."
Earlier in the evening, Stephen Clegg won gold for Scotland in the 50m freestyle S13 final, adding to his silver medal from the 100m freestyle S13 earlier in the week. The 30-year-old is a double Paralympic champion.
In another notable performance, 18-year-old Filip Nowacki of Jersey claimed his first major title in the 200m breaststroke final. Nowacki, considered a potential heir to Adam Peaty, also secured Jersey's first Commonwealth Games medal in 36 years. This gold is only the second Commonwealth gold for the Channel Island, following Colin Mallett's rifle shooting victory in 1990.
Nowacki expressed his pride, saying, "It's a special moment to do it for Jersey. It's the next step in my progression and it's a night I'll never forget."
Katie Shanahan finished fourth in the women's 200m individual medley final. Shanahan, who won bronze in the same event at the previous Commonwealth Games, led at the halfway stage before being overtaken. Jenna Forrester of Australia won gold, followed by Aimee Canny of South Africa and Amalie Smith of England.
Charlie Hutchison of Scotland placed seventh in the men's 400m individual medley final, where New Zealand's Lewis Clareburt successfully defended his title.
