Dolphins player Isaiya Katoa is expressing growing excitement as he prepares to become a father. The 22-year-old athlete announced earlier this year that he and his girlfriend, Tipani, are expecting their first child, a baby girl. Katoa recently shared an Instagram story reposted from Tipani, captioned "can't wait to have a mini us," highlighting his eagerness for the arrival.
The couple initially shared their pregnancy news in February through an Instagram post featuring a cake from their gender reveal and a sonogram. Their announcement, which stated, "Our little island Princess coming September," garnered significant attention, receiving over 9,000 likes and 260 comments.
This personal milestone comes as Katoa navigates a season of mixed fortunes with the Dolphins. The team currently sits seventh on the NRL ladder, having secured 10 wins this season. However, Katoa is sidelined following forearm surgery performed last month due to a fracture. According to Dolphins' Head of Performance Jeremy Hickmans, the surgery was successful, and Katoa is expected to be out for four to six weeks, depending on his recovery progress.
Katoa is recognized as one of the competition's emerging talents. In addition to playing 82 matches for the Queensland-based team, he has also represented Tonga on 11 occasions.
