Diamond Necklace continued her unbeaten streak with a commanding performance in the Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, extending her career record to six wins from six starts. The filly, ridden by Ryan Moore, finished two and three-quarter lengths ahead of Friendly Soul.
Trainer Aidan O'Brien indicated that the win opens up possibilities for the filly in Paris this autumn, potentially targeting the prestigious Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in October. "Diamond Necklace is a lovely filly who has danced every dance," O'Brien stated. "This was up to a mile and a quarter against older fillies, so we did not really know what was going to happen, but we wanted to put on pace to find out."
He added that the filly has several options for her next race, including a fillies' race in France, a start at Leopardstown, or an Arc trial. "She is a great cruiser and progressing well," O'Brien said. "It is possible (the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe). I do not know how far we ask her to go, and it will depend on everything, but the next run will tell us where she is going to go after that."
Ryan Moore expressed his satisfaction with the filly's performance, noting her continued improvement. "That is the best Diamond Necklace has felt," Moore commented. "She is improving with her racing. I think 10 furlongs is probably her optimum, but with those classy horses, they do everything right, so there is a chance she would stay further."
In other races at Goodwood, the Markel Richmond Stakes saw a double for trainer Aidan O'Brien's stable when Man's Best Friend, ridden by Ryan Moore, secured a win. Joseph O'Brien also found success with Enceladus in the Group 3 Gordon Stakes.
Jockey Billy Loughnane, after an earlier incident where his mount Savvy Disco clipped heels and fell, later rode Avalon Queen to victory in a seven-furlong maiden.
