Devon Witherspoon and the Seattle Seahawks have reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension worth $132 million, with $101 million guaranteed. The deal, finalized Saturday, establishes Witherspoon as the NFL's highest-paid cornerback, surpassing previous standards set by Denzel Ward and Trent McDuffie.
Witherspoon, the fifth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has been a Pro Bowl selection in each of his first three seasons. In 2026, he recorded 72 total tackles and an interception, contributing to the Seahawks' Super Bowl victory. During Seattle's postseason run that year, he also defended four passes, made 17 tackles, and registered three quarterback hits. His defensive play was instrumental in the Super Bowl, including a key hit that led to a pick-six.
The cornerback market has seen significant shifts in contract values since March, with Trent McDuffie signing a four-year, $124 million deal and Denzel Ward agreeing to a two-year, $62.2 million extension. Witherspoon's new contract now sets a new benchmark for the position.
Despite the ongoing negotiations, Witherspoon continued to participate in Seahawks training camp. He expressed a focus on his performance and team objectives, stating, "I'm not worried about that right now. I'm out here to focus on making plays and trying to get better day by day. We got other stuff we're focused on. We're just trying to win games, so that's the stuff I'm focused on right now."
The Seahawks now boast the highest-paid cornerback and wide receiver on their roster. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards in 2025, signed a four-year, $168 million extension in March.
