The Detroit Lions have released cornerback Terrion Arnold, the team announced Monday, just hours after a judge set his bond at $1 million and found probable cause for him to face charges of armed robbery and kidnapping in Florida. The NFL star now faces the prospect of life behind bars.

Earlier on Monday, the judge imposed conditions on Arnold's bond, prohibiting him from contacting six co-defendants or the witness in the case. Arnold was also ordered to surrender his passport within 48 hours and was restricted to his residence, with exceptions for team activities, legal appointments, and court appearances. Despite these allowances for his football career, the Lions made the decision to release him, casting significant doubt on his future in the league.

The cornerback had been a key player on head coach Dan Campbell's defense in Detroit. Arnold's NFL future now hangs in the balance as the legal proceedings unfold.
