Derbyshire Police are investigating allegations of an assault that occurred outside a nightclub in Derby, an incident that involved England bowler Brydon Carse.
Images circulated on social media showing Carse in handcuffs with police officers present on Saturday night. The 31-year-old pace bowler was temporarily arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly. He was later de-arrested after agreeing to leave the area.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that the Cricket Regulator would investigate the incident. As a consequence, Carse was removed from the England squad selected for the second Test against Pakistan.
In a statement on Wednesday, Derbyshire Police said: "We are investigating allegations of an assault in Derby city centre. No arrests have yet been made and the investigation is ongoing."
Carse has not yet responded to requests for comment, and the ECB has declined to comment further on the matter.
