David Ross, who managed the Chicago Cubs for four seasons, has indicated that he would be interested in taking over as the manager of the New York Mets should the position become available.
Ross served as bench coach for Andy Green, who is currently finishing the season as the Mets' interim manager following the firing of Carlos Mendoza. Ross noted that Green intends to return to his role in the Mets front office after the season concludes. However, Ross suggested that Green's competitive drive might influence his decision to remain in the dugout.
If the Mets managerial job does open up, Ross stated he would "love" to be considered for the role. His tenure with the Cubs spanned from 2020 to 2023. The Mets have not yet made a decision regarding their permanent managerial vacancy for the upcoming season.
