Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has publicly addressed his split from fiancée Sarah Jane Ramos, refuting what he called "false narratives" that emerged following the abrupt end of their engagement. Ramos, who is the mother of Prescott's two children, called off their planned wedding in March, approximately five weeks before the scheduled April date.
Prescott, speaking at Cowboys training camp, acknowledged the public attention surrounding the breakup. "There were a lot of false narratives out there on both of our sides. That was very unfortunate," Prescott told reporters. "Unfortunate for me, but somebody who's been [dealing with the media] and knows how to [handle] it… and unfortunate for her."
He emphasized the impact on their children, Margaret, 2, and Aurora, 1. "It's kind of the life we live in. Yeah, it was an unfortunate situation for obviously everybody. More importantly, the kids. And so for me, it's just about making sure I'm there in every which way for them," he said.
The couple had recently held a joint bachelor-bachelorette party in the Bahamas. Reports later suggested Ramos had concerns about Prescott's communication with other women during their relationship, though she reportedly remained with him hoping for a change in his behavior. The news of the split surprised many, as the couple had appeared publicly affectionate at the NFL Honors event in San Francisco during Super Bowl week earlier in the year.
The Cowboys are currently preparing for the upcoming 2026 NFL season, which begins with a highly anticipated game against the New York Giants on September 13. Prescott is under a four-year, $240 million contract with the team, which aims for a more successful season after missing the playoffs in the previous year.
