Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd is focusing on the "wow" moments produced by New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart as a potential indicator of future success, rather than the team's past struggles. Dart, selected 25th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, took over as the starting quarterback in Week 4 of the 2025 season.
Despite a turbulent rookie year that saw the Giants finish with a 4-13 record and the mid-season firing of head coach Brian Daboll, Dart demonstrated flashes of potential. During his 12 starts, Dart accumulated 2,272 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Notably, he also recorded nine rushing touchdowns, setting a single-season record for a Giants quarterback and ranking third among rookie quarterbacks.
Cowherd emphasized that for young quarterbacks entering challenging situations, these "wow" moments are more significant than immediate win-loss records. He pointed to Dart's athleticism, fearless running style, and visible confidence and leadership as key attributes. The analyst also noted that Dart's rookie rushing touchdown total surpassed those of prominent running backs Saquon Barkley and Bijan Robinson.
Looking ahead to his second season, Dart is expected to benefit from an improved supporting cast and the guidance of new head coach John Harbaugh. Cowherd highlighted that Dart has demonstrated consistency in completing over 65% of his passes in eight starts, indicating an ability to execute reliably alongside his more spectacular plays. With key players like wide receiver Malik Nabers (who reportedly suffered a torn ACL) and running back Cam Skattebo (who dealt with a broken ankle) expected to be healthy, and with a "legitimate coaching" staff in place, Cowherd believes Dart possesses the dual threat of consistent playmaking and "wow" factor necessary for the Giants' potential resurgence.
