The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free agent defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah to a one-year contract, bringing back a player who was part of the team's first Super Bowl victory during the 2020 season.
Ogbah spent the last six seasons in Florida, playing five seasons with the Miami Dolphins and most recently playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He originally joined the Chiefs before the 2019 season on an expiring contract before signing a two-year, $15 million deal with the Dolphins in 2020. After two strong seasons in Miami, he signed a four-year, $65 million contract extension.
The addition of Ogbah is the second time this offseason the Chiefs have signed a player from their past championship teams to a league-minimum contract. The team also recently re-signed defensive back L'Jarius Sneed, who was instrumental in their Super Bowl wins in 2022 and 2023.
Ogbah is expected to contribute to the defensive line rotation, potentially playing alongside Felix Anudike-Uzomah and on the opposite side of star defensive end George Karlaftis. Known for his pass-rushing abilities, Ogbah is likely to see action in third-down situations, aimed at pressuring opposing quarterbacks.
Another former Chiefs player from their Super Bowl era, Tyreek Hill, remains a free agent. Hill is currently recovering from a significant leg injury sustained last season with the Dolphins. While the Chiefs have previously expressed interest in Hill, his ability to play this season due to his injury remains uncertain.
