Cardiff City's Krystian Bielik appeared to grab a young supporter by the throat during a confrontation at Fratton Park on Saturday, September 5, 2026. The incident occurred in the 70th minute of the Championship match between Portsmouth and Cardiff, with Cardiff trailing 2-0.
Bielik, a former Arsenal youth product, was attempting to retrieve the ball from the stands for a throw-in when a young fan threw it away from him. Footage of the event showed Bielik reaching out towards the fan's throat and pushing them. The fan responded by standing up and appearing to push Bielik back.
In the aftermath, another supporter threw the ball, striking Bielik's Cardiff teammate Perry Ng. Following a delay, the fan initially involved in the incident was ejected from the stadium. Bielik, however, did not receive any immediate punishment.
Both Portsmouth manager John Mousinho and Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy were spoken to by the referee, along with the captains of both teams. Portsmouth went on to win the match 2-0.
Bielik, 28, joined Cardiff last month and was making his fourth appearance for the club at the time of the incident.
