Yva Lauren Cao, girlfriend of newly drafted NBA player Cameron Boozer, offered an inside look at his draft night experience, as he was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies as the No. 3 overall pick out of Duke.
Cao shared photos and videos on Instagram, documenting moments from the evening, including Boozer's selection, their reactions, and post-draft celebrations. She expressed confidence in his future with the Grizzlies, writing, "Memphis, you’re going to love him." She also posted a picture of Boozer in front of his new locker and jersey, adding, "Memphis just gained the best there is!! So proud of you and beyond grateful to watch your dreams become reality."
The couple, who have been together since high school in Miami, Fla., started dating in August 2023. They attended several proms together before beginning their college careers, with Cao choosing the University of Miami and Boozer heading to Duke. Cao was a cheerleader for Miami, while Boozer made a significant impact in his sole season at Duke, averaging a double-double with 22.5 points and 10.2 rebounds. Cao also attended many of Boozer's games, supporting his team through to the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight.
Boozer is expected to make an immediate impact for the Grizzlies, who concluded their previous season with a 25-57 record.
