Ben Rice's debut in the Home Run Derby concluded in the first round, but the New York Yankees player viewed the experience as a success, emphasizing the unique opportunity to participate with his father, Dan.

Rice hit seven home runs in his initial round at Citizens Bank Park, falling short of the eight needed to advance to the second round. He had previously stated that the experience was "already a success" simply because he and his father were able to participate together.

"I think it’s a can’t-lose mentality for us," Rice said before the event. "Going to go out there and enjoy ourselves, hopefully hit a bunch of homers, hopefully we win it. But if not, it was a success because my dad and I got to do it."

The derby provided a different venue for the father-son duo, evoking memories of backyard sessions in Cohasset, Massachusetts. For Rice, the All-Star event was a significant first experience in Major League Baseball's midsummer classic.
