Severe weather has prompted Azteca Stadium to issue a shelter-in-place order for fans and media ahead of the World Cup last-16 tie between Mexico and England.

The match is scheduled to begin at 18:00 local time on Sunday in Mexico City. Heavy rain and reports of lightning have been observed in the vicinity of the stadium.

Supporters and media currently inside the stadium have been advised to stay in their seats. FIFA had previously engaged in discussions with the English and Mexican football associations regarding a potential shift in the kick-off time. The proposal was to move the match to 19:00 BST on Sunday, which would be 12:00 local time. However, this plan was later reversed, and the original kick-off time remains unchanged.
