Florida State quarterback Ashton Daniels expressed his dissatisfaction with On3's recent ranking of the top ten quarterbacks in the Atlantic Coast Conference, stating that he believes he merited a place on the list. Daniels, an Auburn transfer, voiced his opinion during ACC Media Days on Wednesday.

On3's list featured several notable names, including Darian Mensah and C.J. Bailey. Daniels suggested that his exclusion was an oversight, particularly when considering quarterbacks like Christopher Vizzina and Lincoln Kienholz, who have limited experience. Daniels highlighted his past performances, including games against ranked opponents Vanderbilt and Alabama in 2025, where he accumulated 612 passing yards and three touchdowns, despite the team's losses.

His career statistics include over 700 passing attempts. However, concerns remain regarding his supporting cast at Florida State, which may not be as robust as the one he had at Auburn, which featured top receivers Eric Singleton Jr. and Cam Coleman. Outside of Deuce Robinson, Daniels may face a different receiving corps in Tallahassee.

Daniels' career touchdown-to-interception ratio stands at 24-22, and he has not averaged over seven yards per attempt in a season. The team's recent record of 7-17 over the past two seasons also contributes to a lack of preseason benefit of the doubt, despite Daniels not being part of those previous seasons.

Daniels stated that he and the Florida State team must earn respect through their performance on the field. Should Daniels lead the Seminoles to a successful season, potentially achieving eight wins and improving the team's standing, it could lead to a reassessment of his ranking by outlets like On3.
