Arsenal has signed Spanish goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez on a free transfer, marking their sixth acquisition of the summer. The 27-year-old joins the Women's Super League club after her departure from Real Madrid at the conclusion of the previous season.
Rodriguez, who will wear the number 16 shirt, arrives to bolster Arsenal's goalkeeping options. She is expected to compete for playing time with Daphne van Domselaar and Anneke Borbe, both of whom faced injury challenges last season.
"I'm so proud to join this great club. Arsenal is one of the top clubs in the world and I'm really excited to be part of the team and take on this new challenge," Rodriguez stated. "I want to help us compete for trophies and make more history, together with our supporters."
During her six years at Real Madrid, Rodriguez set a club record with 215 appearances and was appointed captain in her final year. She has also earned 34 caps for the Spanish national team since her senior debut in 2021, contributing to their 2023 Women's World Cup victory. However, she has since lost her starting position to Cata Coll.
Rodriguez's arrival is part of Arsenal's busy transfer window as they prepare for the 2026-27 Women's Super League season. The team has also added Georgia Stanway, Ona Batlle, Selina Cerci, Geraldine Reuteler, and Lisa Baum to Renee Slegers' squad.
Last season, Arsenal finished second in the Women's Super League and reached the semi-finals of the Women's Champions League.
