Allen Robinson II, a veteran NFL wide receiver, has announced his retirement from professional football after 11 seasons. The announcement came on his 33rd birthday, with the new NFL season on the horizon.
Robinson played for five teams during his career, most recently with the Detroit Lions in 2024. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2015 while playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"Football gave me more than I ever could’ve imagined. It challenged me, shaped me, humbled me, and rewarded me in ways I’ll carry for the rest of my life," Robinson wrote in a social media post. "I came, I saw, I conquered and I leave with nothing but gratitude. The memories, the relationships, the victories, the lessons, they’ll stay with me forever!"
The wide receiver was originally drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Jaguars, achieving career highs in receptions, yards (1,400), and touchdowns (14) during the 2015 season.
Following a knee injury in 2017, Robinson signed a three-year, $42 million deal with the Chicago Bears. He played four seasons in Chicago, where he recorded a career-high 102 receptions in the 2020 season.
In March 2022, Robinson signed a three-year, $46.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Rams. However, he made only 10 appearances in his first season with the team and struggled with injuries.
The Rams traded him to the Pittsburgh Steelers in April 2023. He played all 17 regular season games for the Steelers that season before being released. Robinson had a brief stint with the New York Giants in 2024 before joining the Detroit Lions later that year, appearing in 12 games. After sitting out the 2025 season, Robinson has now opted to retire from the sport.
