Swimmer Adam Peaty has advanced to the semi-finals of the men's 100m breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. His wife, Holly Ramsay, was present to support him, sharing her enthusiasm on social media.

Peaty, a three-time Olympic champion, debuted a new swimming cap bearing the "Ramsay-Peaty" surname for the competition. He recorded the fastest time in his heat with 59.46 seconds, with only two other competitors finishing under a minute. The heat was briefly delayed when a lane divider detached.

This marks Peaty's fourth Commonwealth Games appearance. He secured his first medals at the Glasgow Games in 2014 and described the current event as a "full circle moment" as he aims to reignite his career. A silver medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024 followed a challenging 2023 where Peaty withdrew from several events to focus on mental health.

Ramsay, who is pregnant with the couple's daughter, shared a photo of Peaty in his new cap on Instagram Stories, captioning it "So Special." She was seen cradling her baby bump in a mirror selfie.

Reports indicate ongoing family difficulties for Peaty. His parents did not attend his December wedding to Holly Ramsay and are reportedly not attending the Commonwealth Games due to a falling out. Peaty remains estranged from them. Further reports suggest a recent falling out between Holly Ramsay and Peaty's sister, Bethany, with Peaty attempting to mediate.

The family tensions reportedly stem from previous events, including Peaty and Ramsay not inviting wider members of the Peaty family to their engagement party in September 2024. Caroline Peaty, Adam's mother, was also reportedly not invited to Holly Ramsay's hen do, while Tana Ramsay and friends were in attendance.

Peaty's decision to compete under the "Ramsay-Peaty" surname, with "Ramsay" listed first, is presented as a further point of contention for his estranged family members.

Peaty expressed his readiness for the coming weeks of competition, stating, "Job done, really. We've got a busy two weeks coming up, so we're reserving energy where we can." He reflected on his journey since his first Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 12 years ago, noting the significant evolution in his career.
