Aaron Donald's decision to end his retirement and rejoin the Los Angeles Rams has significantly impacted the team's Super Bowl odds, making them the frontrunners to win the championship. DraftKings Sportsbook saw the Rams' odds shorten from +550 to +500 following the announcement.
"We felt somewhat confident that Donald would sign with the Rams before the season started. The Future Book Odds to win the Super Bowl dropped from +550 to +500," Johnny Avello, director of Sportsbook Operations for DraftKings, told the California Post. "We believe that his talent level, combined with his current physical shape, improves the Rams’ chances."
At +500 odds, the Rams now hold the shortest odds in the league, with the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills trailing at +1000. This move places the Rams in a commanding position among NFL contenders.
DraftKings has also introduced individual betting markets for Donald. His regular-season sack total has been set at 12. In his last season before retiring, Donald recorded eight sacks, but he had consistently achieved 11 or more sacks from 2017 through 2022.
Donald has also been added to the Defensive Player of the Year odds board at +5000. Myles Garrett remains the favorite at +450, with Will Anderson Jr. following at +700.
The Rams were already considered a team that sportsbooks viewed with caution. Donald's return is perceived to have created one of the most formidable rosters in NFL history.
