A.J. Brown's tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles has concluded, positioning him as a significant bounce-back candidate for the upcoming NFL season. Set to play for the New England Patriots, his season-long receiving yardage total is projected at 1,100.5 yards.

Last season, Brown recorded 1,003 receiving yards amidst reported strains in his relationship with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and dissatisfaction with his role in the offense. His move to New England reunites him with his former head coach, Mike Vrabel, a pairing Brown has previously praised.

Brown is also set to play with rookie quarterback Drake Maye, considered one of the league's top young deep-ball passers. This combination is seen as potentially ideal for Brown, who excels on vertical routes and in contested catch situations, opportunities that were reportedly limited in Philadelphia.

Maye's ability and inclination to throw the ball downfield could provide Brown with more chances for explosive plays than he experienced last season. To surpass his projected 1,100.5 receiving yards, Brown would need to average approximately 64.8 yards per game over a 17-game season. He has achieved this benchmark in each of his five NFL seasons, including his rookie year and a 2024 season impacted by injuries.

Two seasons ago, Brown posted back-to-back seasons with over 1,450 receiving yards. If he remains healthy and finds a more favorable offensive environment, a Pro Bowl-caliber season is considered a strong possibility for the receiver.
