French police arrested 98 individuals in Paris following the nation's 2-0 loss to Spain in the World Cup semifinal on Tuesday. The arrests included 67 adults and 21 minors, with the majority of offenses involving aggravated theft, possession of incendiary materials, and firing mortar fireworks.

Chaos erupted in several areas of the capital, with 12 trash containers set ablaze on Raymond Queneau Street. Firefighters responding to these incidents were targeted with mortar rounds, according to a statement from the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office. A supermarket's window was also broken by fireworks.

France's defeat ended their hopes of reaching a third consecutive World Cup final. Spain secured their victory with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal, who converted a penalty in the first half, and Pedro Porro, who scored in the second half. Spain will advance to face the winner of Wednesday's semifinal between England and Argentina.
