Thousands of olive ridley turtles have gathered on La Escobilla beach in Oaxaca, Mexico, to lay their eggs in a significant natural event known as "la arribada," or "the arrival." Sanctuary officials reported that the turtles arrived within a 48-hour period. This mass nesting is the sixth wave to occur during the current nesting season, which commenced in March.
"La arribada" is characterized by hundreds of thousands of olive ridley turtles coming ashore in southern Mexico to deposit their eggs. This phenomenon highlights the reproductive cycle of this particular turtle species.
