Nasa astronaut Jessica Meir and French astronaut Sophie Adenot completed a spacewalk outside the International Space Station on Friday, marking the sixth time in history that two women have performed such a mission.

The two astronauts spent 6.5 hours working outside the station. Meir utilized the station's Canadarm2 robotic arm to reach worksites, while Adenot remained tethered to the station.

This spacewalk was the 284th conducted in support of the space station's assembly, maintenance, and upgrades. It also marked the seventh spacewalk of the current year.

In 2019, Meir was part of another historic spacewalk alongside fellow Nasa astronaut Christina Koch, which was the first all-female spacewalk ever conducted.
