Stubborn Belly Fat Linked to Hidden Hormone Disorder, Experts Warn
Unexplained weight gain, particularly around the abdomen, can be an early indicator of hormonal imbalances that require medical attention.
Persistent lower belly fat that resists diet and exercise may signal an underlying hormone disorder, according to health experts. Mila Habsy, who struggled for a year to lose weight that accumulated around her abdomen, eventually discovered she had a hormonal imbalance.
Habsy described herself as someone who had previously maintained a slender physique with little effort. However, she began to notice her clothes fitting tighter, and despite dieting, the weight stubbornly remained. "I felt so confused and very, very insecure," Habsy stated. "I had gone from being quite skinny to bloated... Nothing seemed to shift the extra weight."
Experts emphasize that such hard-to-shift weight, particularly when concentrated in the lower abdomen, should not be dismissed. It can serve as a warning sign for various hormonal conditions that require diagnosis and treatment. Ignoring these symptoms can lead to further health complications.
After her diagnosis, Habsy underwent treatment and has since returned to her normal weight. She now reports feeling energetic and has achieved a toned physique. "Today, Mila, now 23, looks – and feels – like a different woman. Back to her normal weight, she’s full of energy, has an impressively toned tummy and even works part-time as a model," the report states.
Health professionals advise individuals experiencing unexplained or stubborn weight gain, especially around the belly, to consult with a doctor. Early detection and intervention are crucial for managing hormonal disorders and improving overall health and well-being.
