Busted star James Bourne's vision began to improve after he underwent a life-saving kidney transplant, his brother Chris has revealed.
Chris Bourne shared that James, 43, had been struggling to see a clock in his hospital room before the surgery, but could read it clearly afterward. "When James went in, he said he had trouble reading the clock. But when he came out of the operation and was taken to his room, he could see the clock," Chris told The Sun.
Last month, James announced that his brother had donated a kidney to him, revealing doctors had told him he had only "a few years left to live." He described Chris as a "hero" for saving his life.
James had stepped away from Busted's tour last year due to his declining health. He explained in a statement that he was not well enough to perform and needed to focus on medical treatment. His bandmates, Charlie Simpson and Matt Willis, had expressed concern for his health during live shows, stating he was "really f***ing sick."
James had previously revealed in September that he was awaiting "life-extending" surgery. The transplant was performed with Chris donating one of his kidneys, and both brothers are currently in a recovery period. Chris added that James is doing "really well" following the procedure.
