Unheard Oasis Recordings to Go Up for Auction
A collection of unreleased live recordings, rehearsals, and band memorabilia from Oasis's 1990s heyday will be auctioned.
A significant archive of unheard recordings from the British rock band Oasis, known as The Desk Tapes, is set to be sold at auction on October 3. The collection includes recordings from 63 live concerts, soundchecks, and over 100 hours of rehearsals dating back to the band's peak popularity in the 1990s.
The auction lot also features original setlists, tour itineraries, a guitar played by the band, and an Oasis tour parka. These items have been in the possession of Owain Richards for two decades. His father, who served as a front-of-house sound engineer for the band during their most successful years, compiled and preserved the extensive archive.
Richards described how his father meticulously labeled and recorded everything, backing up the audio onto cassettes. "I grew up listening to these recordings," he said. "Oasis were part of the family as much as they were part of the culture."
The collection will be offered for sale in Evesham, Worcestershire.
