Apple TV's comedy series "Brothers," starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as exaggerated versions of themselves exploring a rumor that they are biological brothers, has concluded its eight-episode first season. While the network has not officially announced a renewal, co-creator Lee Eisenberg expressed enthusiasm for continuing the show.

Eisenberg told The Hollywood Reporter in September that he "would love for the show to go on for a very long time" and that the season finale "definitely ends on a cliffhanger." He reiterated this sentiment to TV Insider, stating his intention for the show to continue "as long as Matthew and Woody choose to play the roles of Matthew and Woody."

However, both McConaughey and Harrelson have been more reserved about the prospect of a second season. Harrelson confirmed that no plans have been made beyond the first season, and McConaughey compared discussing future seasons to "writing your acceptance speech before you’ve won the award."

The first season finale, titled "On the Road Again… Again," saw Matthew and Woody confronting the truth about their potential biological connection and Matthew's gubernatorial campaign taking an unexpected turn. The episode concluded with the two friends setting off to meet their biological father, who is currently in prison, leaving the door open for future storylines.

Eisenberg indicated that he would be interested in exploring the road trip and the eventual meeting with their father in a potential second season. Highdee Kuan, who plays Woody's daughter Olive, expressed her own hopes for Season 2, including Olive reconciling with her ex-fiancé and exploring her relationship with her father.

As of November 5, there is no official release date or production timeline for "Brothers" Season 2. The schedules of McConaughey and Harrelson, who both have upcoming projects, will likely influence any future production. All eight episodes of "Brothers" Season 1 are currently available for streaming on Apple TV.
