‘The Love Hypothesis’ Movie Arrives on Amazon Prime Video
The romantic comedy, based on a popular fanfiction novel, is now available for streaming.
The film adaptation of Ali Hazelwood's 2021 romance novel, "The Love Hypothesis," has premiered on Amazon Prime Video. The movie became available for streaming on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 12 a.m. Pacific Time, or 3 a.m. Eastern Time.
"The Love Hypothesis" originated as a Star Wars fanfiction in 2018 before being published as a novel. The movie was adapted by screenwriter Sarah Rothschild and directed by Claire Scanlon. It stars Lili Reinhart as Olive Smith, a Stanford University PhD student who enters into a fake dating arrangement with Dr. Adam Caslsen, portrayed by British actor Tom Bateman.
The cast also includes Rachel Marsh, Jabouki Young-White, Nicholas Duvernay, and Arty Froushan. The film is exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video and requires an Amazon Prime subscription for access. It is not available for rent or purchase on other platforms, and will not be available on Netflix.
Amazon Prime subscriptions are available for $14.99 per month or $139 per year. For individuals aged 18 to 24, a discounted "Prime for Young Adults" membership is offered, which includes a six-month free trial, followed by a 50% discount on the monthly price for up to six years.
