Peacock has released the first trailer for its upcoming "Friday the 13th" prequel series, titled "Crystal Lake." The show, produced by A24, delves into the origin story of Pam Voorhees and is scheduled to premiere on Oct. 15, 2026.
The trailer offers a glimpse into the dark narrative that centers on Pam Voorhees, a single mother still grappling with the grief of her son Jason's drowning in the town lake nearly a year prior. The plot is set in motion when two strangers arrive, probing into her past and initiating a series of disturbing events that leave the residents of Crystal Lake questioning Pam's true identity.
Linda Cardellini takes on the role of Pam Voorhees, with the cast also including William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. The series draws from the iconic "Friday the 13th" film franchise, one of the most recognizable names in horror cinema.
"It's like someone put a curse on this town," a character says in the trailer. "It all started when that kid drowned last summer. Something is in these woods and all it knows how to do is kill."
The "Friday the 13th" franchise first introduced the story of Jason Voorhees and his mother in the original 1980 film. This new prequel series aims to explore the foundational events that shaped the iconic horror saga. The trailer was released by Peacock on a Monday, signaling a grim and suspenseful journey for viewers.
