Actresses Anna Maxwell Martin and Philippa Dunne, known for their roles in the BBC sitcom "Motherland," were spotted at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. The pair traded the familiar setting of the school run for the prestigious sporting event.
Anna Maxwell Martin, 49, was seen in the Royal Box, where she mingled with other notable personalities. She wore a long-sleeved black and white floral dress with a ruffled collar, paired with white stilettos, a woven basket handbag, and sunglasses. Her blonde hair was styled in a ponytail as she watched the match between Karolina Muchova and Coco Gauff.
Philippa Dunne, who plays Anne Flynn in "Motherland," presented a different style in an all-white ensemble from ME+EM. Her outfit consisted of a white T-shirt tucked into a long-slit pleated maxi skirt, cinched with a belt. She added a navy blazer and accessorized with gold earrings and navy heels.
Dunne was accompanied by her mother, Catherine, who wore a pink blouse and floral trousers. Both actresses appeared to be enjoying the day's matches in the Emirates hospitality area.
Earlier in the year, Maxwell Martin had indicated she would not be making a cameo appearance in the "Motherland" spin-off "Amandaland." She stated that while she was proud of the original series, which concluded after three seasons between 2016 and 2022, she felt it had reached a natural end. Despite praising "Amandaland," she confirmed her non-involvement, saying, "No, it’s their show."
Maxwell Martin also shared that her daughters find "Motherland" embarrassing to watch, preferring comedies like "Derry Girls" and "Gavin and Stacey." She described her character, Julia, as intentionally as "full-cringe," aiming to portray the intense stress of parenting through comedy.
